Our journey began with Madeleine, a visionary single mother whose dedication to skincare evolved into a brand synonymous with both exceptional quality and a deep emotional connection.

My passion for skincare was sparked by a mean girl. I’ll never forget how I felt when my nasty college roommate called me “pimple puss”. I was humiliated, filled with self-loathing, and determined to clear my skin/lose the nickname.

After trying 2 or 3 dermatologists in the suburban area where I lived, my results were underwhelming. But in 1981, cosmetic dermatology was not what it is today, plus cosmetic dermatologists were not thick on the ground, either. I was depressed and hated to look in the mirror. There had to be a better way to treat my issues.

I started researching my options and discovered Christine Valmy Skincare. Under the guidance of my skillful aesthetician, I learned how to take care of my skin and how to be acne free; both of which sparked my lifelong passion. My experience was transformative, and I wanted to help other people have the same experience/results. I wanted to create well formulated products based on understanding and addressing skin care concerns. Products that would help people to prevent skin concerns, like acne or premature aging; as well as products to help them repair and revitalize their skin by providing them with the finest skin care products that are proven by science, enhanced by nature, and created to achieve results.

But Madeleine’s journey wasn’t without challenges. In 1985, before Bioté became a reality, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a progressive neurological condition that reshaped her life. This life-changing event shifted her perspective on beauty, wellness, and aging. It deepened her commitment to creating products that not only deliver visible results but also nurture the body’s natural processes—a philosophy that remains at the core of Bioté today.

In the early '90s, Madeleine took an unconventional path for a single mother with two young children. With a heart full of dreams and hands ready to create, she founded The Skin Care Source & Bioté. Her mission was clear: to develop cutting-edge formulations that would earn the trust of dermatologists, aestheticians, and medical spas across the country. Bioté quickly became known for its innovative, high-performance products—professional-grade formulations that are proven by science, enhanced by nature, and created to achieve results.
